Set on Bali’s tranquil south-east coast, this sleek, modern resort cascades down a tropical-flower filled hillside to a cliff-top infinity pool, where the only view is a cerulean stretch of sea glistening between the gold of sun and sand.
You’ll likely spend much of your time in the cliff-top infinity pool, soaking in the sun and watching the famous Uluwatu surf breaks below. There is a thin stretch of beach at the base of the cliff and, during low tide, a paddle through the tide pools can provide hours of fun. For wide swathes of white sand, the resort provides complimentary transportation to nearby Padang Padang Beach. The spa was designed to resemble a traditional Balinese rice barn and therapies feature local ingredients such as ginger and lime. A Balinese High Priestess is on hand to help with energy cleansing. There’s also a gym, yoga and tai chi classes, and a glass-enclosed wedding chapel that appears to float over the ocean.
The resort features 74 ocean view suites, private pool villas & duplex penthouses. The lobby building on top of the hill offers one-bedroom suites, while two- and three-bedroom villas tumble down the hillside towards the pool at the cliff’s edge. The pool area itself also features a couple of one bedroom suites (some of them with direct pool access). During my holiday, I stayed in an ocean front suite on the main building’s 4th floor. Providing a panoramic overview of the resort grounds and the ocean beyond, the suite featured a large bedroom with seating area and a swanky ensuite bathroom. Its interior combined touches of minimalist design with colorful accents of indigenous Balinese art. The suite took full advantage of its prime sea view setting with full-length glass windows fronting the ocean, as well as an outdoor tub set on the balcony.
There are two and three-bedroom villas that can accommodate families with children. Daily activities for children include batik painting, ceramic making and Balinese dancing.

How to get there
Reached by narrow roads through rice paddies and temple-dotted villages, the highlight of this hotel is its oceanfront locale, and the nightly light show that is the setting sun.
Tranquility is key, so for those who want a bit more atmosphere, a 45-minute drive north to the happening bars in Kuta Beach will do the trick. To be safe, give yourself about the same amount of time to reach the airport. The famous Uluwatu Temple with its heart-racing Kecak dance performance is four miles away.
