Oman Air’s new flight lands in Jakarta

Oman Air’s Airbus A 330-200 aircraft landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta today marking the official launch of its flight to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

Oman Air will operate 4 weekly flights to Jakarta on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday via Airbus A 330-200 aircraft, which Oman Air received last week.


Oman Air celebrated at Muscat International Airport last night the launch of its new destination to Jakarta. After this launch, Oman Air’s destinations stands at 45 destinations.

The launching ceremony was held under the patronage of Nassir bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry who explained that this route will contribute in increasing the trade and commercial exchange between the Sultanate and Indonesia. He pointed out that opening this route comes within the framework of the expansion plan pursued by Omani Air in a bid to link the Sultanate with various world cities.


On his turn, Abdulrahman bin Harith Al Busaidi, Oman Air’s Chief Operating Officer said that the company will operate four weekly flights during this period. Next August, the company will operate daily flights to the new destinations. He pointed out that Muscat-Jakarta-Muscat route will serve Indonesian residents in the Sultanate who represent 30 thousands, as well as the Omani businessmen and tourists.

Al Busaidi explained that the national carrier of the Sultanate is heading to the east (East Asia) as Manila destination was inaugurated last week in the Philippines and Singapore route will be launched next April by daily flights.

On his turn, Sukanto, ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Sultanate welcomed Oman Air’s launching the new route (Muscat-Jakarta-Muscat), which will help to shortcut the distance between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Indonesia. He added that the new route will encourage exchanging visits between the two friendly countries. He expected that the number of Omanis visiting Indonesia would increase after launching this route.
